Pricing
The price on any piece of jewellery is made up from the time it takes to design & make along with the materials used. This can give an impossibly large range of prices so we will alway have a good chat and give an estimate of what you may be after or what you can get for a fixed budget. We like people to select their own gems for their jewellery for two reasons, the first reason is a personal one, we have found getting people involved in this stage makes the connection with the importance of the work. The second is financial as the final bill for the item will be based on what you think is right. We don’t do any discount promotions as we don’t regard our customers as gullible. To discount any retail price the retailer would have to buy in a large quantity of the items they are selling to get a better price which they can then pass on as a discount. We make single items so have no economies of scale what so ever and therefore don’t have this option. The second area for discounters is to over inflate the price first which we just regard as wrong, we would rather be honest from day one.
There are two prices which we can mention, the first is the minimum price we start at and that is £800 on any commission. Over the years we have been making one off jewellery we have found you need to spend a certain amount of time to get the balance right and then end up with the excellent piece of jewellery which ultimately ends up with happy customers. When design work is rushed things can go wrong. This minimum is for a commission process so it can apply to wedding rings or sets of jewellery, for example. The second fixed charge is a minimum design retainer (£200). When a commission is started we don’t know the exact price an item will work out at because that’s up to you but we need to know that any customer is serious before investing the time into the design options that are required. The design retainer also locks us into a contract where we guarantee we will develop a minimum of three different designs (based on what you have requested) within three weeks or your money back. When a design is commissioned we knock off the £200 from the deposit amount so it goes towards your deposit.
